DopeNation is a well-known musical duo from Ghana, made up of identical twin brothers Michael Boafo, also known as B2, and Tony Boafo, known as Twist. They are celebrated for producing hit songs such as “Kpuu Kpaa” by Shatta Wale, “Wow” by Joey B featuring EL, “Sebgefia” by Joey B and EL, “Poison” by Ebony Reigns, “Forever” by Eazzy featuring Mr Eazi, and “Nana Ama” by Pappy Kojo, among others. They have also released several hits as artists themselves.

Early Life

The twins were born in Accra and grew up in the Abeka community. They later moved to Takoradi, where they completed their junior and senior high school education. During this time, they developed an interest in music. They eventually returned to Accra to further their education at the University of Ghana and Ghana Technology University College.

Production Career

DopeNation’s journey into music production began in 2012, guided by musician and producer E.L in Accra. They have since produced songs for a number of Ghanaian artists, including E.L, Shatta Wale, Joey B, Pappy Kojo, Eazzy, Flowking Stone, Olamide, Tekno, and Fameye.

In 2021, they discovered and introduced visually impaired singer Adelaide The Seer to the music scene, serving as her official producers. Together, they released singles such as “Wire Me” and “What a God.”

Music Career

DopeNation released their debut single “Bebia Ye Shi” in 2016, followed by “Uh Huh” in 2017. On April 2, 2018, they released the self-produced single “Eish,” which received widespread acclaim.

Their subsequent song “Naami,” featuring Nigerian musician Olamide and DJ Enimoney, won them the Sound City MVP Group of the Year in Africa award. In 2021, they collaborated with Ghanaian dance duo Dancegod Lloyd and Afrobeast of DWP Academy to release a collaborative EP titled “Music and Dance.”

DopeNation was nominated for Music Producer Honor of the Year at the 2017 Ghana Music Honors Awards.
